a New York City--based musicians collective of performers and composers with a passion for uniting music and art.
The mission of Sonora Collective is to create high quality chamber music experiences in art galleries and other unique spaces in NYC, while elevating lesser heard compositional voices from the past and present, as well as commissioning new works for chamber ensemble. Through our reimagining of the traditional audience member experience, our concerts have a relaxed atmosphere and encourage the interaction between performers and listeners. Together we foster a more expansive audience for the future of classical music.
Our musicians received their training from top conservatories, including The Juilliard School, Mannes School of Music, the Cleveland Institute, the New England Conservatory, and more. Several hold positions in prominent orchestras or are active freelancers. Although they are classically trained, Sonora Collective musicians play a multitude of genres, including contemporary music in support of living composers. Our roster draws from musicians from around the world, all sharing in a collective artistic vision to serve a community of innovative artists.
